The PDW Expedition Watch Band Compass needs no batteries, no signal, and no circuit board. Just the earth's magnetic field. We live in an age of remarkable digital tools, but there is something honest and immutable about an analog instrument that cannot run out of power, lose a signal, or fail a software update. The magnetic compass transformed the known world, and in its most distilled form, it remains the purest navigational tool ever made. Our design drew directly from wrist compass units carried by UDTs, Combat Swimmers, Explorers, and Adventurers from a different era. No less relevant today than yesterday. A tried and true navigational instrument for anyone who spends time in the field.
The PDW Expedition Watch Band Compass is the titanium wrist compass that re-introduced this instrument to the modern market. No batteries. No signal. No circuit board. Just the earth's magnetic field, housed in aerospace 6AL-4V titanium — a material the original units never had. Our design drew directly from the wrist compasses carried by UDTs, Combat Swimmers, and Special Operations divers of a different era, then machined it to a standard those instruments deserved. While we continue to marvel at the products of our digital age, there remains something honest and immutable about an analog tool that cannot run out of power, lose a signal, or fail a software update. The magnetic compass, in its most distilled form, transformed the known world. Ours is built to navigate it.
