Persicaria Praetermissa, misidentified as Polygonum sp. 'Ruby', is a water knotweed that can be found growing in marginal conditions in tropical areas of Asia and Australia. This plant typically grows along the edges of wetlands, but can be cultivated under water. When grown in an aquarium, it takes on an entirely different form. Its leaves take on a slender shape with pointed tips and displays a mix of brownish-red and orange hues.
If you're searching for a unique plant that can be grown multiple ways, try it out! Persicaria Praetermissa can be used in nature-style planted tanks or as an accent plant for your Wabi Kusa or emersed portion of your paludarium. It offers rich color and relatively easy care, making it a great choice for various aquascaping styles. Provide it with moderate to strong lighting, nutrients and CO2 injection if planting in your aquarium.
