- FEEDS PLANTS FOR 3–4 MONTHS WITH 12% SLOW-RELEASE NITROGEN — Feather meal is one of the longest-lasting organic nitrogen sources available. Soil microbes gradually break down the hydrolyzed keratin protein, delivering a steady supply of nitrogen throughout the growing season. Apply once and let biology do the work — no monthly reapplication needed.
- VERY LOW BURN RISK EVEN AT HIGHER RATES — Unlike fast-acting nitrogen sources, feather meal releases gradually through natural microbial breakdown. This ultra slow-release mechanism means it won't shock or burn your plants. Safe for direct soil application around established vegetables, transplants, flowers, and shrubs when used as directed.
- IDEAL FOR HEAVY-FEEDING CROPS — Perfect for nitrogen-hungry plants like corn, tomatoes, leafy greens, brassicas, and fall-harvested vegetables. Also excellent for lawns (approximately 10–15 lbs per 1,000 sq ft, up to 2–3 times per year depending on soil needs) and as a high-nitrogen compost activator (2–3 lbs per cubic yard).
- SIMPLE APPLICATION — Spread evenly, work into the top 3–4 inches of soil, and water thoroughly. For vegetables: 7–25 lbs per 1,000 sq ft depending on crop type. For individual plants: ¼ to ½ cup per plant. Allow 2–4 weeks before planting for initial microbial breakdown to begin. Works best when soil temperatures are above 50°F. Texture: fine granular meal — applies easily by hand or with a broadcast spreader for larger areas.
- DERIVED FROM HYDROLYZED POULTRY FEATHERS — Clean poultry feathers processed through controlled hydrolysis, which breaks down the keratin protein structure into a form soil microorganisms can readily utilize. A sustainable way to recycle poultry industry byproducts into valuable, long-lasting plant nutrition.
- BUILDS SOIL BIOLOGY — As microbes break down feather meal, they multiply and improve overall soil health. Not only you are feeding your plants but you are also you're building a healthier soil ecosystem that benefits everything you grow.
- EXCELLENT COMPOST ACTIVATOR — High nitrogen content helps speed up composting by feeding the microbes that break down carbon-rich brown materials like leaves, straw, and wood chips. Add 2–3 lbs per cubic yard of compost for faster, more balanced decomposition.
- CDFA REGISTERED & LAB TESTED — Registered with the California Department of Food and Agriculture as a fertilizer material. Every batch is independently tested by third-party laboratories for nutrient content and heavy metal levels to help ensure safety for edible crops.
- VERSATILE ACROSS YOUR ENTIRE GARDEN — Use on vegetable gardens, flower beds, lawns, trees, shrubs, container plants, and compost piles. One product covers multiple applications. For a complete NPK program, pair with Bone Meal (phosphorus) and Potassium Sulfate (potassium).
- CALIFORNIA-BASED, FAMILY-OWNED SINCE 1989 — Greenway Biotech has been providing specialty fertilizers from our California facility for over 35 years.
