Autumn Bench

With a delicate display of swooping lines and crisp geometry, the Autumn bench offers an intriguing and cozy respite. The use of traditional mortice-and-tenon joinery methods and hand carved details allows the bench to assume a refined rigidity and elegance. The finely upholstered linen seat, with trisecting bands of fabric, deftly floats above the solid American Walnut base.

For Leighton Calder, the process is as important as the final product. The dedication with which each piece is produced demonstrates an appreciation for wood and the fine craft of carpentry.

Accordingly, the design philosophy rests in allowing the quality of the wood to speak for itself. The designs are simple, but inspired, as they believe that well-presented wood can be both an object of inspiration and possess a practical independence.
